KADUNA STATE - LINKING KADUNA AND ZARIA TO ROUTE 1

Kaduna state is strategically positioned; with easy access to the nineteen Northern States. It borders seven states, including Abuja, Kano, Bauchi, Plateau, Katsina, Niger, and Zamfara, to the west, south, east, north, and north central states. It has 23 local governments, 11 federal constituencies, and 3 senatorial districts. It contains various traditional palaces, including Zazzau, Birnin Gwari, Kagoro, Moro, and Jama’a.

The state is populated by hardworking, enthusiastic, and educated individuals who have the necessary abilities to promote industrial progress. There are various manufacturing businesses in Kaduna State. The textile industry, milling and processing of agricultural products, animal husbandry, oil refineries, and lubricating plants are prominent examples of these.

Modern infrastructure development is essential not only to meet the demands and comforts of its people, but also to strategically position the State for commerce and industry.

 

The Route 1 and Route 2 Corridors would considerably aid the growth of Kaduna state.

It will be possible to connect Route 1 with 15 other Nigerian states and speed up the transit of goods to the deep seaports at Ibaka (Akwa Ibom state) and Ilaje (Ondo state) by connecting Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna state, and Zaria, which ranks 11th and 5th respectively in terms of population density.

It will enable quick distribution inside Nigeria as well as the import and sale of manufactured commodities and processed agricultural products to foreign customers; considerably enhancing the economy’s competitiveness.

Over 50% of the population actively participates in agriculture-related activities, making agriculture the foundation of the Kaduna economy, which contributes over 85% of the State’s GDP.

Numerous cash and food crops are grown, including yams, cotton, groundnuts, tobacco, maize, beans, guinea corn, millet, ginger, rice, and cassava.

Additionally, the State has a great potential for livestock and fisheries.

Mineral resources are abundant in Kaduna State, which span practically all of its 23 LGAs.

Gemstones, industrial minerals, gold, cassiterite, tantalite, wolframite, columbite, manganese, molybdenum, lithium, and nickel are some of the mineral resources.

Kaduna State University Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna Greenfield University, Kaduna National Open University of Nigeria, Kaduna Study Center, Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna School of Midwifery, Kaduna Polytechnic (1968), Kaduna National Board for Islamic and Arabic studies, Kaduna Business School, and Dialogue Institute are all located there.
