The Ilaje Deep Sea Port

THE ILAJE DEEP SEA PORT

The Ilaje Deep-Sea Port in Ondo State, which is conveniently situated at the southernmost point of Route 2, serves as a gateway for the exportation of goods from around Nigeria along the Route 1, 2, 3, and 6 corridors to the rest of the world.

The Ondo State Government is actively discussing this project with Backbone Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (BINL) and we are about to break-ground on this landmark project.

BINL will train individuals in various specialties for the operation of not just the deep-sea port, but also other operational tasks in the running of the BINL Route 2 corridor from among the thousands of indigenous people who will be employed to complete this mammoth project.

The Ilaje deep-sea portt will become a reality thanks to tight cooperation between BINL, the Ondo State Government, and other local authorities.

To begin work on this project as quickly as possible, BINL is collaborating closely with ARUP and other business partners.

Numerous thorough feasibility and pre-engineering studies have previously been conducted by specialized multinational businesses.

Funding will be set aside for the Ilaje Beacon City, the Ilaje Industrial and Utility Zone.

The Ilaje Deep Sea Port is set to cost more than US$ 1 billion.

The cutting-edge resources and infrastructure of Ilaje Port include:

  • Cargo terminals (container, dry bulk, and liquid bulk) in the port, along with warehouses, access roads to the port, and rail passenger and freight.
  • Terminals for LNG and oil with specific piers.
  • Intermodal transportation involving rail and roadways interacts with utilities, deep seaports, scanners, ships and barges, and information and communication technology. (ICT)
  • Electricity provided by dedicated gas-fired-plants and renewable energy sources, as well as storm water drainage, sanitary wastewater drainage and treatment, and firefighting systems. Potable water is also produced by captive water treatment facilities.

The Ilaje deep-sea port serves as a hub for shipping between the overseas countries and Nigeria as whole.

the following are the direct benefits:

  • Port operations to supply products to and from Nigeria’s Dry-Port facilities in each Beacon City and beyond to the nations north of the Federal Republic of Nigeria thanks to an effective interaction with the new and existing railway infrastructure.
  • Investment in track and rolling stock will result in a major increase in capacity with cost-effective rail transportation, while computerized product tracking and tracing will drastically cut handling transport time.
  • Grade separation is used within the complexes of deep sea and dry ports to increase safety.
  • Decongestion of the port by leveraging the new rail infrastructure means fewer trucks and trailers entering and leaving the port.
  • A strategic component with significant competitive and economic advantages.
  • Help moving freight in large quantities to and from all Nigerian states.
  • Leveraging the new railway infrastructure will lead to reduced road wear and tear, less road accidents and less polution.

The companies located the new Parks, Logistics & Economic Zone located in Ilaje will link the world’s port and terminal networks to the new Ilaje deep-sea port in order to facilitate the production and transportation of goods in the most effective way possible.

Investing in novel methods to carry freight to and from quaysides more effectively will be driven by innovation.

The Ilaje deep-sea port will relieve congestion at existing ports and terminals, speed up the movement of goods, and assist the Route 1, 2, 3, and 6 corridors.

Coordinated shipping lines and greater importer/exporter collaboration will bring communities together and aid in the development of Nigeria.
