China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC Group) is a mega conglomerate that has been a pioneer and dominant force in the iron and steel sector of China for the longest time.
MCC has taken on the planning, investigation, design, and construction of major production facilities for nearly all large and medium iron and steel enterprises in China since 1948, when it participated in the construction of Ansteel, the cradle of China’s iron and steel industry. Since then, it has also worked on the construction of WISCO, Baogang Group, TISCO, Pangang Group, and Baosteel, becoming the founder of the “iron and steel backbones” of China.
The establishment of the Metallurgical Construction Corporation of China, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, was authorized by the State Council in 1982. MCC is the largest and most powerful metallurgical construction contractor and operation service provider in the world, one of the state-recognized major resource enterprises, the largest producer of steel structures in China, one of the first 16 central SOEs to be approved by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council with real estate development as its primary business, and the driving force behind China’s infrastructure development.
China’s reform and opening-up were in their early stages when MCC developed the legendary “Shenzhen Speed.” MCC received two distinctions from the same assessment board in 2016 for the years 2013–2015: “Year 2015 Class A Enterprise for Performance Evaluation of Central Enterprise Principals” and “Excellent Enterprise in Scientific and Technological Innovation.”
