French concessions and construction firm Vinci, also known by its corporate name VINCI, was established in 1899 as Société Générale d’Entreprises. Its headquarters are in the western Paris district of Rueil Malmaison. Vinci is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 index and is traded on the Paris Stock Exchange run by Euronext.
The VINCI Group has a lengthy history that dates back to the 19th century. It is the inheritor of hundreds of businesses that were pieced together slowly and laboriously. Alexandre Giros and Louis Loucheur, two engineers from the prestigious Polytechnique engineering school in France, formed Société Générale d’Entreprises (SGE) in 1899. After SGE merged with the GTM Group in 2000, it became VINCI.
